THE PATHWAY TO DIVINE EXALTATION
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 1 Peter 5:5
Every human has a great tendency to be proud because pride is one of the innate attributes of our human nature. It is this intrinsic nature in us that propels us to measure or compare ourselves with others. Am I better or worse than them? Should I look up to them, them to me, or are we equals? It is the spirit behind rivalry and competition, intrigue and betrayal, envy and jealousy, greed and covetousness in every level of human existence and relationship.
All these thoughts are not necessary if you realized who you are in Jesus Christ and what belongs to you. The Scripture makes it clear that in Christ Jesus, "it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and He lives in all of us." Colossians 3:11 NLT.
In other words, your significance in life is not defined by your physical stature: whether you are tall or short, huge or slim; nor by your gender: male or female; nor by your age: young or old; nor by your accomplishment: successful or unsuccessful, great or small, learned or unlearned; nor by social status: rich or poor, employer or employee; nor by your nationality: black or white. Jesus Christ is the Lord of all.
Every attempt to estimate your worth using any of the earthly criteria will give you a false evaluation of yourself that will either make you think of yourself as higher than you ought to think or look down on yourself as if you are nobody. If you are in Christ and Christ is in you, you are a joint heir with Jesus Christ and there is no basis for pride; you have nothing except what God has given you.
Jesus Christ our Lord gave us the right view of life. "He says Speaking to the people, went on, 'Take care! Protect yourself against the least bit of greed. Life is not defined by what you have, even when you have a lot.” Luke 12:15 MSG. The true evaluation of life is how deep your knowledge of God is through Jesus Christ and how many lives you have affected by what you know or possess through Jesus.
In God's Kingdom, your net worth is not a function of your accumulations but of your donations. Your successes or accomplishments are determined by the lives you have impacted and by how your life has enhanced the growth and expansion of Christ's Kingdom on earth.
It takes a humble person to willingly and voluntarily share his life and possessions with everyone like Jesus. When He was given the Holy Spirit and power, Jesus went everywhere in the country doing good and healing everyone who was beaten down by the Devil. May the God of heaven help you to humble yourself like Jesus and make your life count all through eternity and not just for a time. Amen. Good morning.
